Community Leadership in Action

The Kiwanis Club of Indianapolis is one of the premier service clubs in the nation. Boasting a membership of over 250 community leaders.  Downtown Kiwanis, as it's known, is one of the largest Kiwanis Clubs out of approximately 7,500 clubs throughout America and the world.

While the size of our membership attests to its popularity, it is the depth and breadth of its community service, the quality of its business networking and the excellence in programming that sets it apart from virtually all other like organizations.

Serving Children: Our diverse collection of committees bring dollars and helping hands to targeted social programs that help children in all levels of education, hospitals, athletics, child advocacy, through foster parenting and more. We partner with many of the leading child service organizations in Indianapolis.

Business Networking: With such a high level of membership, attending meetings, working on committees and contributing to programs puts you in close contact with our city's key decision makers. Kiwanians are encouraged to do business with other Kiwanians and look out for each other through mentoring.

Fun! Kiwanis is far from all work and no play. A Members Activities committee provides members with a variety of recreational opportunities, from golf to dinner theater and numerous other activities and excursions. And every meeting is staged to be as light-hearted as it is informative.

Objectives of Kiwanis

As Kiwanians, our main objectives are the following:

  • To give primacy to the human and spiritual, rather
than to the material values of life.
  • To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in
    all human relationships.
  • To promote the adoption and application of higher
    social, business and professional standards.
  • To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive and serviceable citizenship.
  • To provide through this club, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, and
    to build a better community.
  • To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound
public opinion and high idealism which make possible
the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and
    good will.
