Lawrence E. and Maysel D. East Scholarship

The Lawrence E./Maysel D. East Scholarships have been awarded annually since 2011 to undergraduate students from Butler University & University of Indianapolis who display academic excellence, leadership, citizenship and can demonstrate financial need. 

Application process
The Kiwanis Club of Indianapolis seeks submissions from the Financial Aid offices at Butler and UIndy. Students are invited to complete the application, and a committee of Kiwanians interviews 3-5 students and selects the finalists. Scholarship recipients are invited to a Kiwanis luncheon to be recognized.

The Impact
Since 1997,  we have presented $155,000 to 37 students at Butler University, University of Indianapolis, DePauw University, Hanover College and Marian University. The Kiwanis Foundation of Indianapolis is able to provide these because of a generous gift from the estate of Jerry East, a long-time member with 40 years of perfect attendance, who was the first recipient of the Kiwanian of the Year award in 1986!
